Someone needs to learn how to dress lines on a tower. Improper bends from tower to antenna and no grounds or even busses. Very little support. That seven eights is going to flop in the wind.

It's my understanding that is a hybrid antenna giving the benefit of circular polarity and the reliability of a dipole. I'm guessing quarter wave.

That's the cheesiest antenna mount I've ever seen.

The Sonata SEL with the 8" screen is a much better system. It uses Google maps that never need updating

That tone is a blank channel. You have to assign the channel after entering the freq/tone information. get the proper cable from radio to computer! sounds like the cable you made is incorrect.. spend the 20$ for the correct cable bud

A circular polarized FM antenna ! I had one a wile then found a .94 wave Dominator was the last one in stock before they quit . A pirate in NYC bought the old one . what is the nest ? a Eagle ??

I think the nest is the least of the problem.. those fiberglass isolation links are very weathered, they become less effective at this point and tuning will be interesting. Is the heliax up to the FM element dressed in with twist ties and hose clamps?.. I see why nobody would climb this for inspection.

I have Sonata 2021 N line, downloaded latest update from October 2023, but now navigation does not work, also apple play is not full screen. Anybody else has this issues? Should I download and install Sonata 2022 instead? Also I see you update has steps 1/5 I had only 1/4?? Maybe I am missing map update???

Those 1/4 wave Antennas are surprisingly effective. I have used OMB ( Spain)version MP1 both single and stacked here in the uk , made of stainless steel too.

Chirp probably corrupts the check sum creating the error. Back in the days of hacking Maxtrac radios, one had to be careful to correct the checksum after doing mods to the .MDF FILE. I would like to think that the big /\/\ has continued with this habit. There are various versions within the same model type that might affect things as well as to what version of CPS was used to program each radio before you hit it with Chirp. Are you using the most recent version Chirp Next? One might have to blank out the radio completely with Lab Software and reprogram it to its original configuration. Another item to consider, The Serial Number. It must remain the same as the original serial number. Unless you use Lab to change the SN you could be causing issues with the radio. These are possible suggestions to take into account from using the older series of the 1225 series of radios. I was told to use a Hex Editor program and modify the .MDF file for all occurrences of the lower frequency.I was also warned to make memo of original check sum value. It must be restored to the original by modifying bits in the page describing the version of the program. Not sure how. I still have not tried it. One other issue, that tone might be a sign that the VCO is unlocked thus "locking up" the radio. There is a forum I believe called Bat Boards where you might search for more info. Fair warning, don’t ask for any Moto software on this site. 73 and good luck! I need to get my 1225 down to ham bands as well.

When mine eventually bubble to the point of chipping, I'll just replace them with some black RedRock hinges for $105. I always seem to make anything I paint look like shit. Great vid though for anyone who wants to tackle the paint job!

I have the same problem but even the 2021 version wouldn’t work..

I dowhloaded the program, in the program their are several files, 5 of the files are zipped files, do I have to unzip those files for it to work ?? When I put the flash drive in the usb, on top of the display it says momentarily ( reading usb ) then it goes away, when I hit the download button it says reinsert the usb and try again. This is on a 22 Tucson

I was just wondering if you ever got around to making that video about Day 1 from purchasing the radio to getting it up and running? I have a CDM 1250 also and I can’t find any good basic videos about programming. It’s for 2 m use. That would be super helpful!

Glad I'm not the only one this is happening to. Good info on the process. I'm going to do one of mine soon though plan to powder coat it, so hopefully it stay on better.

I bought 2 of these and fully charged them to 14.6 volts also and I did not disassemble them I made them into two 12.8 Volt per super beast which should be a total of 192 amp hours at 12.8 volts to my surprise my inverter shut off at 10 volts and when I recharged both superbeasts all together only took 50 amp hours so something is not right with these batteries. 50 amp hours is not even close to 192 amp hours. Anyone else testing these?

I'm having the same issue....Mine are buiilt in a Motorola Case and the repeater is a Model # CDR 700 repeater. Not sure what the heck is going on....
